SafeSphere Consulting was established by Occupational Hygienist Geoff Howard (BSc, Grad Cert) to provide practical, technically sound workplace risk advice without the unnecessary complexity often associated with larger consultancies.

With more than 20 years’ experience across occupational hygiene, hazardous materials, radiation safety and environmental risk management, Geoff has worked extensively within high-risk industrial, government, construction and infrastructure environments across Australia and internationally.

 

Clients work directly with Geoff throughout every engagement — ensuring responsive communication, consistent technical oversight and practical recommendations tailored to real operational environments.

 

Geoff’s pathway into occupational hygiene and environmental consulting began from practical beginnings. Starting his career as an apprentice fitter machinist within the petrochemical industry, he gained firsthand experience working in high-risk industrial environments around hazardous chemicals, welding fumes, heat stress, confined spaces and friable asbestos.

 

After this practical industry beginning to his career, Geoff went on to complete a Bachelor of Science (Biomedical), following his passion for science and human health.

 

Keen to combine hands-on operational experience with formal scientific and human health risk training, Geoff later spent more than a decade working as a Health Physicist and Radiation Protection Advisor within a large federal government agency, supporting major hazard facilities and commercial operations in radiation safety, worker health protection and environmental risk management.

Between 2011 and 2024, Geoff worked across occupational hygiene, contaminated land and environmental consulting roles within both national and boutique consultancies, supporting projects across construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, government, property and industrial sectors.

 

These combined experiences shaped the foundation of SafeSphere Consulting — a consultancy focused on practical risk management, clear reporting and reliable technical advice clients can confidently act on.

Whether supporting a workplace exposure assessment, site chemical and biological contamination issues or routine compliance monitoring, Geoff’s focus remains the same: helping businesses understand risk, meet obligations and protect the health of workers and occupants.
